PLANNED GIVING TO PLATTE LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION

We hope you will consider including the Platte Lake Improvement Association in your estate plan.  The PLIA relies on memberships and donations to continue our work of monitoring and protecting the lake.  By becoming a member of the PLIA Legacy Society, together we will be able to ensure that Platte Lake is protected and preserved for many generations to come. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 corporation.

JOIN THE  “PLIA LEGACY SOCIETY”

The Legacy Society program is your opportunity to preserve and protect Platte Lake now and for future generations. These are donors who have chosen to provide for the long-term financial support of the Platte Lake Improvement Association in their will or estate plan.

Legacy members receive special recognition and acknowledgement through our PLIA newsletters, communication and website. Providing us with notice of your intention is the best way to ensure that your gift is used just as you wish.

DESIGNATING YOUR LEGACY GIFT

During your gift planning, consider your goals and intent for supporting the PLIA.

You can choose “Current Use Giving” or “Endowment Giving”.

Current Use Giving supports the needs of the organization at the time of your gift. Your gift would be available immediately to be used in its entirety at the time of your donation. Current use gifts are made directly to the Platte Lake Improvement Association and designated as “Current Use Giving”.

Endowment Giving provides for the long-term needs of the Platte Lake
Improvement Association, ensuring support for the organization for
generations to come. Your gift either as a memorial gift, or as part of your
estate plan is made to the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation,
designated for the Platte Lake Improvement Association Endowment.

Unless otherwise specified as Current Use Giving, all bequests (gifts that are made as a part of a will or trust) and memorial gifts that are “given in memory of” will automatically go to the Platte Lake Improvement Association Endowment Fund ensuring the future of the Platte Lake and it’s ecosystem.

WILLS AND BEQUESTS

A gift through your will or trust is a great way to support the lake for future generations.  Below is suggested language to use when drafting your will or bequest.

For Endowment Giving: “I give $________or _________percent of my estate to the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation (EIN 38-3056434) for the Platte Lake Improvement Association Endowment.

For Current Use Giving:  " I give $________or _________percent of my estate to the Platte Lake Improvement Association (EIN 38-2369386), a nonprofit corporation currently located at P.O. Box 272, Honor, Michigan 49640-0272, or its successor thereto for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose."

BENEFICIARY DESIGNATION

Not everyone wants to commit to making a gift in their wills or estates. A beneficiary designation gift is a simple and affordable way to make a gift to support the Platte Lake Improvement Association. You can designate us as a beneficiary of:

● An insurance policy

● A trust arrangement

● An IRA or retirement plan

It is very simple to name the Platte Lake Association as a beneficiary. Start by requesting a change-of-beneficiary form from your policy administrator or download the form from your provider's website. Make your desired changes and return the form to establish your gift.

LEGAL LANGUAGE AND TAX ID

For all legal purposes, please refer to our organization as:

P.O. Box 272, Honor, Michigan 49640-0272
