Settlement Agreement

In 2000 the PLIA entered into an agreement to settle our lawsuit against the MDNR. Here are the documents related to this agreement which were filed with the court as a consent judgement. It has been amended over the years, most recently in 2017 to incorporate a Standard Operating Procedure Manual which can be modified by the mutual agreement of the PLIA and the MDNR without requiring us to file an amendment with the court.

Consent Judgement, March 10, 2000

First Amendment, November 6, 2001

Second Amendment, November 12, 2010

Settlement Agreement Reporting

The 2000 settlement agreement required the appointment of an Implementation Coordinator responsible for working with the PLIA and MDNR to carry out its provisions.  One of these provisions is for an annual MDNR/PLIA Meeting at which the Implementation Coordinator presents a formal report on the previous year's activities.  We had these meetings since 2001, and they have been very productive.  Hosted by the MDNR at the Platte River State Fish Hatchery, usually in the Spring, these meetings also have been attended by representatives of the MDEQ, the National Park Service, the Benzie Conservation District, the Crystal Lake & Watershed Association, and the Little Platte Lake Association.

Each year the annual report also is presented to the PLIA membership at the association's annual general membership meeting.  Paper copies of a summary version of the report also are made available at that time. Copies of the annual reports are available below:
